The Selkie’s Husband, now up at Gingerbread House!

I am so, so, so happy – like, heart bursting out of my chest happy! – to announce that my short fiction entitled The Selkie’s Husband is officially published at Gingerbread House Literary Magazine! This is my favorite piece I’ve written thus far, and with a journal I adore, so this publication is a personally significant one. It would mean the world to me if you gave it a look. (If not for the story then at least for that wowzers artwork by Anna Dittman – holy smokes!)

The Selkie’s Husband is based on a myth found in Irish and Scottish folklore. This creature, the selkie, is a seal that can shed its hide on land and step out as a human woman. If a man steals her seal skin while she is human-bodied he can claim her as his wife, and only by discovering where he has hidden the skin can she return to her rightful form and home. Heartbreaking, right?

I love this story, I love this mag, and I would love it so much if you gave it a read. Thank you. 🙂

In other news, I’m flying to New Hampshire today to see family and romp around in some sky dandruff. At least, I hope there will be snow – I’m told there hasn’t been a single flake yet. Guess those clouds got some Head and Shoulders, huh?

May your holidays be holly, jolly, merry, and bright. 🙂

    • Thank you so much Laura! I’m so glad you felt that way. It means a lot to me that you took the time to read – I’m sure you’re swamped with submissions to your own mag so you certainly didn’t need to read this, but you did. I appreciate that so much. 🙂
